99.9% of over weight people have NO THYROID problem. about the same as the overall population. whining would not help get the correct dosage of thyroid medication- see the doctor regularly. get blood levels taken every 6 weeks for the first 6 months then 2 times a year for 1 year then yearly - if you gain weight OR lose weight and you have not changed your exercise habits or eating habits - call your doctor and get it right- go see andn endocrinologist.

I don't know who "a crock of crap" is but until you know what you are talking about you should keep your comments to yourself.
Two years ago I started to gain weight even though I was walking about 5 or 6 kilometers a shift at my job, plus exercising 1/2hr. at homeevery day, nothing I did worked. I quit eating bread, pasta and potatoes. I ate loads of fruit and veggies fish, chiken and roasted or broiled bergers. I went from 135#s to 177#s-was ready to take up smoking, not only was my physical health deteriorating my mental health was also suffering. Just this week I have been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and started taking medication for it,now I need to know if there are any foods I need to avoid. Believe me this is no "crock of crap". I know nothing about this diet. I have just been doing this on my own and using the Slimquick plan. I didn't know until this past Monday what was wrong with me, now what concerns me is that I have been told that I shouldn't eat some foods such as broccoli, which I love and is almost a staple for me. I think that once I get this under control my weight may start to come down. I just need to know if I should avoid certain foods.

I was diagnosed w/ hypothyroidism back in 1998 -- I ended up having nodules on the thyroid & had all but 2% of the thyroid removed. I have struggled since the surgery back in 2002 -- I gained 35 lbs in 2 months immediately following the surgery. I take my meds every single day as prescribed. I would love to know if there is something I should or should not be eating. I got every 30-45 days to have my bloodwork done and go between 125 mgs to 137 mgs of synthyroid. This is not a fun disease. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
